In honor of Women’s History Month, James Sprunt Community College recently hosted a Women’s Trailblazing Stories Panel for students, faculty, and staff. JSCC’s campus community gathered to hear a panel of two female students and two female community leaders answer questions about remaining steadfast in pursuing and accomplishing goals.

Panelists answered questions ranging from how to thrive as a female in male dominated careers to how to support other women. Key themes from each presenter were to build a network of strong support to achieve goals and remain steadfast in the face of adversity.

This special event, hosted by JSCC’s Student Government Association, was organized by Ms. Tonda Clowney and moderated by Ms. Karla Blanton.

Panel members were as follows:

Joana Rivera-Alverado
JSCC Barber School Student

Alieka Bestman
JSCC ADN Student

Carrie Shields
Executive Director of Duplin County Economic Development Commission

Alpha D. Clowney
Interim Police Chief for Fayetteville State University
