Pi Day Bake-off held at Thelma Dingus Bryant Library

Pi Day Bake-off held at Thelma Dingus Bryant Library

On Monday March 14th, the Thelma Dingus Bryant Library in Wallace held a Pi Day pie baking contest. This was the fourth Pi Day Bake-Off because there was not one last year because of COVID.

Sharon Robinson, Library Director, says, “the Bake-Off began in 2018 as a community participation project and has always been well-received by our patrons.”

To enter the contest, each contestant submits one pie (either sweet or savory) and brings it to the library at least 30 minutes before the judging starts. The pies are then judged on taste, presentation, and creativity. There were nine entries this year.

Judges are “usually a combination of town administration and town leaders,” said Robison.

This year, the 1st place winner was Zoe Drew (Key Lime), 2nd place was Kimberly Butts (Lemon Meringue), & 3rd place was Ann Carter (Strawberry).

The Thelma Dingus Bryant Library invites the public to come visit, located at 409 W Main St, Wallace, NC 28466. Encouraging library card sign-ups, joining the Friends of the Library club, or to enjoy a special reading program. More info to come about the 2022 summer program.
