Soul-Full Sisters: Lemon Blueberry Pie

Soul-Full Sisters: Lemon Blueberry Pie

From the recipe box of the Soul-Full Sisters

Sweet lemon desserts have always been a favorite of ours. We got it honest – on both sides. Both our Grandmother Pate and Granddaddy Carlton LOVED LEMON anything.

Granddaddy Carlton would come home from work and place a can of Eagle Brand milk and a few lemons on the kitchen counter. It was his subtle way of saying “I want lemon pie.” There wasn’t anything that man loved better than something sweet – including our grandmother. And you couldn’t simply walk by him with something sweet in your hand, without him saying “let me see what that taste like.” In lieu of his memory, we share with you one of his favorites: Lemon Blueberry Pie.

In the heat of the summer, one bite rescues you with a cool-oh-so lemony sweetness filled with fresh blueberries, as blue as Granddaddy’s eyes, reminding you of the season’s kindness. Summer at its hottest is satisfied with a short sliver – or two.

We enjoy a slice topped with Cool Whip or as Granddaddy would call it – Cool Warp. Our hearts are full of the fondest memories of our family – the ones who shaped us in love. He was one of them.

We return the love to you in this recipe.
