The Duplin Agribusiness Academy hosted Mini Workshops at JSCC

The Duplin Agribusiness Academy hosted a Mini Workshop series that featured hour-long sessions of various topics including Animal Reproduction, Animal Nutrition, Career Skills, Etiquette and Conversation Skills, Agriculture Engineering, Natural Resources and Plant Science.

Students selected workshop sessions to attend based on personal interest and career goals. Several workshops featured industry professionals paired with skilled activities.

The Duplin Agribusiness Academy is available to all Duplin County School students entering high school, upon application. The academy focuses on highlighting careers in agriculture, leadership development, and enrichment opportunities through pathways designed to reach student goals of career and college readiness.

-Leanne Brooks, Nutritionist at Smithfield

-Lynne Moore, NC Works Career Center Manager

-Dave Elkin, Director, Engineering/Tech Svc at Smithfield

-Samantha Outlaw, Agriculture Teacher at Wallace-Rose Hill High School and JSCC Adjunct Instructor for Agriculture

Tiffany Cassell serves as the Duplin Agribusiness Academy Coordinator for Duplin County Schools and James Sprunt Community College, which connects agriculture teachers, instructors, students, and the industry. Cassell works to create, coordinate and provide meaningful experiences that will support the mission and vision of Duplin County Schools and JSCC.
