Warsaw Fire Department responds to unattended debris burn

On Sunday, Warsaw Engine 1, Engine 3, Engine 4, Tanker 1, Tanker 2, Truck 4, and Command 4 all responded to a structure fire that was impinging on other structures. Upon the simultaneous arrival of Engine 3 and Tanker 1, those personnel found a fully involved single wide trailer and an out building already on the ground.

As Engine 3’s crew began stretching their attack lines, Warsaw Tanker 1 used the monitor on the front bumper to protect the second structure before supplying water to Engine 3. Tanker 1 and Tanker 2 supplied Engine 3 for the remainder of the call and our mutual aid departments from Faison Fire & Rescue, Kenansville Fire, and Magnolia Fire provided man power for extinguishment.

This fire was caused by leaving a pile of debris burning unattended. This could have been avoided. Thankfully the home was unoccupied and no one was injured.

Thank you to Duplin County EMS, Duplin Communications, Susan Johnson, and all of our mutual aid departments for your assistance today.

To the 15 volunteer members from Warsaw that worked so hard today from the first minute of the fire until the last truck was washed, thank you for all you do!
