Beulaville resident receives House of Raeford "Flock Cares Award"

Lahoma Jones received the Flock Cares Award from the House of Raeford Farms in Rose Hill. The 53 year old is married to her high school sweetheart Eddie Jones, and has two daughters.

The award was presented to her at the plant. Her boss, Jonathan Guy shared kind words about her that meant a great deal to Jones. House of Raeford Farms is a family owned business of processing poultry plant. House of Raeford Farms is a fourth generation, family-owned and operated poultry company currently raising chickens in Eastern North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Louisiana.

“I was chosen because I demonstrated exceptional service to others,” said Jones. “During the past two years I’ve been going through colon cancer and I had to get 12 rounds of chemo and I never missed a day of work.”

Jones started at the House of Raeford in 1989 after receiving an Associates Degree in Accounting from James Sprunt Community College.

“Also last year I was dealing with possible breast cancer but after a biopsy it was not cancer but could if not taken out.” During this time, Jones didn’t miss any work. “Also I do prison ministry with “Emerge Ministry “ in South Carolina four times a year,” said Jones. “I love helping and sharing Jesus with everyone! God is so good and I’m so Blessed.”

“I have worked in the church as a youth Leader and a Sunday school teacher for 20 years,” said Jones. “Since the past two years I have stepped down from this position of the church and started doing Prison Ministries in Columbia South Carolina with Emerge Ministries. We visit both the youth and adults facilities. I just love serving others!”
