James Sprunt Community College receives $10,000 gift

The Edgar J. Wells, Jr. Scholarship of James Sprunt Community college recently received a gift of $10,000 from the Presbytery of Coastal Carolina.

This gift was made possible by the members of the Teachey Presbyterian Church who requested when their church was closed due to declining membership that their assets be distributed to certain causes that were very important to them.

Until his death Edgar Wells, Jr. was an Elder in the Teachey Presbyterian Church and a vital leader of the Men of the Presbyterian Church organization in our area. The church wished to continue to honor him for his service to them and to the community at large.

The forward thinking of this small congregation will allow their mission outreach to live on through this generous donation.

Ashley Graham, Director of College Advancement, and Taylor Sandlin, Foundation Services Coordinator, met with Mr. Bill Goodnight of the Presbytery and Mr. James Boney from Teachey Presbyterian Church to discuss the endowment.

If you would like to donate to the Edgar J. Wells, Jr. Scholarship, please contact the James Sprunt Foundation at 910-275-6135.

We are thankful for the opportunity to continue to assist more students as they join our family to build their future!
