Mount Olive Tribune closes it’s doors after 118 years of publication

On June 20th, Mount Olive Tribune posted on Facebook, “The Mount Olive Tribune office is closed this week due to the assistant editor taking a much needed vacation. We will resume operations June 27 at 9 am. Our final day of business is June 29. That will be the last publication since we are closing our doors permanently. Thanks to all past and present who have supported this vessel of news for 118 years!”

Many Duplin County and Wayne County residents were grateful for the service to their community.

A Mount Olive native, and Representative John Bell said, “A very sad day. After 118 years, the Mount Olive Tribune is closing its doors. Today’s final edition features tributes to the publication’s long history. I want to express my sincere appreciation to all those who have worked at the Mount Olive Tribune and served our community. Thank you!”
