The Kenansville Elementary School Advanced Honor Choir students participated in the University of Mount Olive Honor Choir Festival on March 3rd.
Homegrown Teacher Academy students from the University of Mt. Olive attended the DCS March Board of Education meeting along with Dr. Tommy Benson, former superintendent of Duplin County Schools and current Chair of the UMO Department of Education, and Gail Herring, also formerly with Duplin County Schools and currently Assistant Professor of Education at UMO.

The University of Mount Olive Alumni Association recently presented Barbara Lee, from the Class of 2008, with the Lorrelle F. Martin and Michael R. Pelt Excellence in Teaching Award. The award was given during the Alumni Awards Ceremony held in Rodgers Chapel. The event was part of the University’s Annual Homecoming celebration. Lee resides in Clinton, NC.
The University of Mount Olive hosted 644 third graders from Wayne and Duplin County for a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fair, called Stem On The Green. The event took place on Friday, October 29th from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm on the campus lawn near Pope Wellness Center. Over 40 interactive booths were featured!
