Warsaw Police Department releases statement on Yancy St. homicide

From Warsaw Police Department

The Warsaw Police Department would like to update the public on the investigation into the homicide of Mr. Phillip Troublefield and Ms. Debbie Castillo that occurred on November 22, 2021. We would also like to clarify some information.

The active investigation into this crime continues and the Warsaw Police Department is committed to locating and bringing to justice the individual or individuals who are responsible for this heinous act.

In a report by WITN on 04/11/2022, the news reported that this was a random act of violence. The police department continues to believe that this was not a random act of violence and that there is no ongoing threat to the public.

The Warsaw Police Department also believes, like the family of the victims, that there are those within the community who have information but are unwilling to speak with the investigations team. This hesitancy has confounded our investigation and delays justice for the family. In response, the Warsaw Police Department has requested, and the Warsaw Town Council has approved a $2,000 reward for anyone who can provide information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual or individuals  responsible for this crime.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the police department at (910) 293-7816 or through the tip  line at policeinfo@townofwarsawnc.com.

As always, we remain committed to the citizens of the Town of Warsaw. Only through the combined  efforts of the police department and the citizens can we ensure the safety of the town where we live and work.
