Duplin County Sheriff's Office is asking for assistance in homicide

On June 23, 2022 around 7:00 a.m., the Duplin County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to Glacus Murray Lane near Warsaw in reference to an unresponsive male subject with a possible gunshot wound. Upon the arrival of deputies and Duplin County EMS, the male subject was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim has been identified as Antonio Ortiz-Cruz. It was determined that Mr. Ortiz-Cruz was shot and killed in the late evening hours on June 22, 2022. A neighbor told investigators that on the evening of June 22, 2022 he was outside his residence and heard what he believes to have been a gunshot and saw a small dark in color car leaving the residence of Mr. Ortiz-Cruz at a high rate of speed with no lights on.
