The Duplin County Sheriff’s Office Cadet Unit 1090 participates in the 35th Annual North Carolina Association of Law Enforcement Explorers Advisors Survival Weekend Camp

The Duplin County Sheriff’s Office Cadet Unit 1090 participated in the 35th Annual North Carolina Association of Law Enforcement Explorers Advisors (NCALEEA) 2021 Survival Weekend at Camp Grimes in Rutherfordton, NC.

Approximately 65 Explorers/Cadets and Advisors from seven different agencies from North and South Carolina participated in this event. This is a camping weekend for Explorers, Cadet Units, and Advisors.

Survival Weekend consists of competitions designed to test each Cadet on their skills, strength, endurance, and knowledge. Cadets are graded on felony vehicle stops, physical fitness, such as sit ups and pushups, a 1.5 mile rough country survival run and an obstacle course. Awards are presented in each competition.

Duplin County Cadets won several awards in the competition including second place overall out of seven other Cadet Units/ Explorer Posts over the course of the weekend. The Cadets had other fun activities as well and look forward to next years Survival Weekend!
